Ainslie were defeated by ladder leaders UWS Giants after only trailing by 5 points at half time.

UWS Giants flexed their muscles in a dominant second half to beat Ainslie by 65 points at Alan Ray Oval on Saturday.


The Tricolours took it up to the ladder leaders in the first half, going toe-to-toe with their opponents to trail by only three points at half-time.


But the Giants lifted a gear in the third, kicking the first three to open up a 27-point lead at three quarter-time.

They carried on the job in the last, booting 5.8 to 0.0 to win 19.21 (135) to 11.4 (70).


Jeb Lamb and Patrick McKenna kicked seven goals between them with Tom Downie (18 disposals, 45 hitouts and a goal), Jeremy Finlayson (19 disposals) and Liam Sumner (19) doing most of the damage around the ground.


Nicholas Heyne was terrific for Ainslie with 34 disposals while Ian Lawless (23), Rob Tuohey and Sean Ellis were among their better players.


The Giants will have a bye next week while the Tricolours will face Redland at home.

1st Grade, Second Grade and the Rising Stars all played at Alan Ray Oval, Ainslie on Saturday 20 June 2015.


1st Grade had a big win over Gungahlin to consolidate 4th position.


Final score: Ainslie 19.13-127 def Gungahlin 5.7-37


2nd Grade also had a big win over Gungahlin under lights at Alan Ray Oval, Ainslie.


Final score: Ainslie 19.12-126 def Gungahlin 2.8-20


Rising Stars defeated Marist in a high standard game.


Final score: Ainslie 9.7-61 def Marist 7.6-48


The Womens team were defeated by Gungahlin at Reid Oval on Saturday by 14 points.


Final score: Ainslie 4.5-29 def by Gungahlin 6.7-43


The 5th Grade game due to be played on Friday night at Ainslie has been postponed due to the wet weather.
