NEAFL Round 1 - Ainslie v Sydney Swans Reserves

Ainslie have gone down to the Sydney Swans Reserves in round 1 of the NEAFL.

The game was played in perfect conditions at Alan Ray Oval, Ainslie.

In a very even first half of football Ainslie stood up to the strong Sydney AFL Reserves side. Ainslie missed some early opportunities and at half time trailed by 16 points but had only one less scoring shot. The Ainslie defence held up well and Josh Bennett up forward took some strong marks and had 2 goals at half time. Nick Heyne and Ian Lawless were providing plenty of drive out of the middle.

Ainslie kicked the first goal of the third quarter through Chris Barrie to reduce the margin to 10 points. The game remained tight as Ainslie missed a few more chances to goal. However towards the end of the quarter the Swans got on top and finished off with the last three goals.

In the last quarter the Swans class and fitness showed out as they kicked six goals to Ainslie's one.
