Ian Lawless - 150 Games
Ian Lawless plays his 150th game for Ainslie in the Round 8 NEAFL game against local rivals Eastlake.
Ian joined the Club in 2007 which was Chris Rourke's first year in charge. The Club was at a low point in its history after many players left at the end of 2006. Ian played 18 games in his first year. Recruited from Orbost in East Victoria Ian sets a great example to the younger players with his hard work and dedication to the Team.
The man they call "Rambo" was a key member of Ainslie's two Premiership teams in 2010 and 2011. Vice Captain in 2011 Ian went on to Captain the team from 2012 to 2014. Ian played his 100th game in June 2012.
Rambo is a courageous midfielder noted for his ability to win the ball in contested situations and get the ball out by handball or kick to one of his teammates. Ian has not lost any of his ability to win the ball. In the last NEAFL game against Redland Ian was best on the ground and led the disposal count with 29 possessions.
Ian plays down his own personal achievements and considers the achievements he has had with the team are far greater. He is a great example of selflessness and team player.
Coach Chris Rourke says that Ian competes consistently every week, has a team first mentality, has no fear and is a champion in every sense of the word.
Ian and Naomi have a three year old boy, Miles, and are expecting their second child later in the year. Ian is a very successful carpenter and director of Empire Homes.
The Ainslie Football Club congratulates Ian on the great achievement of playing 150 games. Well done and we all hope you have many more games in you.
Round 8 of NEAFL, Ainslie v Eastlake, will be played on Saturday 30 May at Alan Ray Oval, Ainslie starting at 2pm.
