2004 Ainslie Senior Squad

The AFL Canberra competition had eight teams, Ainslie, Belconnen, Eastlake, Queanbeyan, Sydney Swans Reserves, Tuggeranong, Wagga and Weston Creek.
Ainslie finished the home and away games in third place on percentage behind Queanbeyan each with 13 wins and 5 losses.
Ainslie First Grade played the Sydney Swans Reserves in the First Semi-Final. After a slow start trailing by 5 goals at quarter time Ainslie slowly fought their way back into the game closing the gap to 13 points at the last change. However an even last quarter gave the Swans victory by 14 points leaving Ainslie in fourth position.

Seven Ainslie players were selected to play AFL Canberra representative football. They were Brett Knowles, James Kavanagh, Lucas Matthews, Peter McGrath, Daniel Jaques, Ben Doherty and Luke Jarjoura. Brett Knowles, Daniel Jaques and Luke Jarjoura were selected in the All Australian Team following the Australian Country Championships.
Players selected in the AFL Canberra Team of the Year were: Brett Knowles, Lucas Matthews, Daniel Jaques, James Kavanagh and Luke Jarjoura.
James Kavanagh was the Club’s leading goal kicker with 61 goals.
Ainslie was awarded the AFL Canberra Club Championship as the best performed Club.

Second Grade
Ainslie Second Grade finished the Home and Away games on top of the ladder with 17 wins and 1 loss.
Ainslie Second Grade defeated Queanbeyan in the Second Semi-Final.

Ainslie played Queanbeyan again in the Grand Final. In a closer game Ainslie were able to win by 15 points and so win the Club’s 20th Second Grade Premiership.

Ainslie Thirds played in the AFL Canberra District Division 1 competition and finished in third position after the home and away with 8 wins and 6 losses.
The Third Grade team defeated Gungahlin in the First Semi-Final.
